Live Updates from Canadian Idol?

Hey Everyone,

in the next 15 minutes (its now 2:45am) Jen and I hit the road and head for Hamilton for the Canadian Idol auditions.  If there is wifi in the mall (its the Eastgate Square Mall) I will do my best to do some updates throughout the day to let you all know what happens.  It will likely be some video blogs,unless I just decide to post from my iPod Touch, but that will all depend on whats going on, how loud it is, all that fun stuff.

The World of Chris

So what is going on in the world of Chris. Well I realized about 5 minutes ago that I haven’t really been posting much, other than short 1 or 2 liners, so it’s time to get back into the longer posts that actually have some substance and meaning behind them.

Lately things have been pretty busy. We’ve been planning our reception for the past few months, it happens this Saturday night. I’m pretty excited about it. Everything just seems to be falling into place, which doesn’t happen with these sort of things. Things like “we have this many guests now” at the end of the week, and then realize that because of the extras we’ll need more food, then that same day, out of no where, I get a call from someone saying “can I bring a dessert.” Last night at our final planning meeting, we realized that we still don’t have a long VGA cable, as we are running 2 projectors from one computer, and we were like “AHHH” then made a call to see if someone has one, and not only does he have one, but he will rush order one for us today and will donate it to us so we can always have one…. this just never happens to me when it comes to events, every usually blows up in my face… so because of this, I’m excite, plus I just really think God is going to do some good stuff at it.. so that’s always great!

A New Look

Well by now since your reading this, I would imagine you’ve noticed a bit of a new design here at chrisburke.ca that’s because I’ve switched over to wordpress. I’ve been wanting to switch to wordpress for quite some time, because of their ease of use when it comes to tabs on your site and such, but I was afraid I’d loose all of my posts that I made on blogger, but as it turns out, wordpress has a built in blogger importer.

So here we are, in the new site. I’m liking it, and I hope you are too. You still acess it the same way, just go to www.chrisburke.ca and boom you’ll be here.

RSS Reader Anyone?

I’ve been looking into RSS readers for 2 or 3 months now. I know a lot of my readers don’t know what an RSS is let alone an RSS reader… in short it makes it so you can view ALL the blogs you go to often, on 1 page… it saves me MANY MANY useless surfing hours.. as I have about 40 blogs that I check daily, and that takes a lot of time, and it’s wasted time if they havent updated.

So I subscribed to an RSS reader a few months back, but have had NO IDEA how to use it, or how it worked, until today. John over at http://johndemarcojr.blogspot.com/ posted the following video, which I watched, and now fully understand RSS readers and now have all my frequented blogs set up for viewing in my google rss reader.

Check it out… and if you have multiple blogs that you read daily, I stronly suggest you do this.
